The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has instructed its members in the state House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
This call for impeachment comes swiftly after Governor Fubara declared that the state House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule, lacks legal recognition.
Chief Tony Okocha, Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, announced this directive during a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
Okocha emphasized the necessity of the impeachment process, citing Governor Fubara’s alleged insult to the sensibility of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tinubu had intervened to resolve the protracted crisis in the state.
The decision to pursue impeachment underscores the escalating tensions between the APC and Governor Fubara’s administration in Rivers State.
