Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, says the team is determined to retain their position as Africa’s top women’s football side ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria, led by coach Justine Madugu, enter the tournament among the favourites after securing a record-extending 10th continental title in the previous edition.
The Super Falcons staged a comeback to defeat hosts Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in the final and are now aiming to defend their crown while securing qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Ajibade expressed confidence in the team’s readiness, insisting the players are fully focused on achieving their objectives.
“The team’s spirit is high. Everyone is fully focused. We know why we’re here and we are ready to take things one step at a time.
“So we’re 100 per cent ready,” Ajibade told a press conference in Rabat.
The Super Falcons will begin their title defence against Malawi’s Scorchers at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday night.
