A late-night operation by the Katsina State Police Command has disrupted a bandit attack in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, leading to the rescue of four kidnapped victims, including a nursing baby.
The operation was launched after police received a distress call over the abduction of three women from Makwanta Village in the early hours of Wednesday.
Acting swiftly, the Divisional Police Officer mobilised operatives who tracked the fleeing attackers to the Dutsin-Ma-Danmusa border, where a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued.
The bandits, reportedly overwhelmed by the police response and believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, retreated into the surrounding bush, leaving the victims behind.
All four hostages were subsequently rescued unharmed, while police recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the scene.
The operation highlights the Command’s intensified efforts to disrupt bandit activity and protect vulnerable communities across Katsina State.
