Millwall winger Femi Azeez suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday’s 2-0 Championship win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Azeez started the opening fixture but was withdrawn after 30 minutes and replaced by Kyrell Lisbie after experiencing discomfort.
Millwall manager Alex Neil said the club will need to assess the injury before determining its severity.
“He just says he felt something in his hamstring,” Neil told NewsAtDen in quotes revealed by Southwark News.
“We’re hoping that it’s not going to be anything significant. I don’t think it is at this stage from speaking to him.
“But I could’ve said that about another four players that are probably sitting at the treatment table now.
“I don’t want to say too much about it. We hope Femi’s fine. He’s been a talisman for us.”
The setback follows an impressive 2025/26 season in which Azeez scored 11 goals and registered seven assists in 37 league appearances as Millwall finished third and reached the promotion playoffs.
His form earned him a place in the Championship Team of the Season and his first senior Nigeria call-up.
The former Reading player made his Super Eagles debut at the 2026 Unity Cup in May, scoring twice against Zimbabwe before setting up a goal in Nigeria’s 3-0 final victory over Jamaica.
Azeez has since attracted interest from Hull City and reportedly wants to secure a move to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old will undergo further assessment as Millwall continue their campaign, with the club hoping he avoids a lengthy absence.
