Victor Osimhen Named Super Eagles Assistant Captain and Designated Penalty Taker

The Nigeria Super Eagles have officially undergone a significant leadership restructuring ahead of their 2025 AFCON opener against Tanzania. Following the sudden retirement of long-serving captain William Troost-Ekong on December 4, head coach Éric Chelle has confirmed a new hierarchy designed to lead the team in Morocco.

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has been appointed as the team’s main assistant captain, serving as the primary deputy to the newly appointed captain, Wilfred Ndidi. In addition to his leadership role, Osimhen has officially taken over from Troost-Ekong as the Super Eagles’ designated penalty taker.

The New Leadership Hierarchy
