UCH Facilities: Olubadan Urges FG to Restore Hospital to World-Class Standard

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the deteriorating state of facilities at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, and restore the institution to world-class standards.

Ladoja made the call while receiving the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, and the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Pate, at his palace in Ibadan.

The monarch raised concerns over inadequate medical facilities and a shortage of healthcare personnel, warning that the challenges were undermining the hospital’s ability to deliver quality medical services.

He urged the Federal Ministry of Health to take immediate steps to rehabilitate critical infrastructure and address the manpower shortage at the institution.

Ladoja, however, acknowledged ongoing efforts by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to improve the hospital and restore its former standing.

The ministers were in Ibadan to commission a newly constructed diagnostic centre at UCH as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure at the institution.

They assured the Olubadan that his concerns would be communicated to the Federal Government for consideration.

The visit was attended by senior traditional rulers and other dignitaries, including the Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kolawole Adegbola; Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; Osi Balogun, Oba Dauda Azeez; Asipa Olubadan, Oba Amidu Ajibade; and the UCH Chief Medical Director, Professor Abiodun Otegbayi.
