Marwa Lauds Security Agencies for Rescuing 20 Kidnapped Corps Members

The Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.), has commended the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, DSS, and other security agencies for the successful rescue of 20 prospective corps members and another abducted victim in the South-East.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Femi Babafemi, Marwa described the operation as a significant victory for the country and a demonstration of the impact of coordinated, intelligence-led security efforts.

He said the safe recovery of the victims underscored the government’s responsibility to protect young Nigerians preparing to serve the country, while commending the security personnel involved for their professionalism and determination.

Marwa, a retired military officer, urged the public to recognise and support such operational successes, noting that effective intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration remain critical to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes.

He further linked the fight against insecurity to the NDLEA’s mandate, stressing that illicit drugs and trafficking networks often contribute to violent criminal activity. He said the agency would continue to work closely with sister security organisations through intelligence-sharing and joint operations to disrupt criminal networks.

The NDLEA chairman also called on Nigerians to assist security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent abductions, apprehend criminals and secure vulnerable communities.

He wished the rescued victims a speedy recovery and a safe return to their families.
