President Bola Tinubu has rallied Nigeria’s Flamingos to secure a historic victory when they take on Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Nigerian side reached the final after beating Brazil 3-1 in Wednesday’s semi-final in Rabat.
Ahead of Saturday’s showdown, Tinubu urged the players to sustain the determination and fighting spirit that have propelled them to the final.
“I encourage you to approach the final with the same fighting spirit and belief that have brought you this far. I have confidence in your ability to make history by winning the coveted world title,” the President said in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
A victory would make Nigeria the first African country to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos will face Japan at Pitch 3 of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Nigerian time.
