Rodri ruled out of Barcelona’s Atletico Madrid clash with hamstring injury

Barcelona midfielder Rodri will miss Sunday’s La Liga encounter against Atletico Madrid after sustaining a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old was withdrawn at half-time during Barcelona’s 3-0 Champions League victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, Barcelona confirmed the midfielder had suffered an injury to his right hamstring.

“Tests have confirmed a minor injury to his right hamstring,” the club said.

“He will miss next Sunday’s match against Atletico Madrid. His exact recovery time will depend on how the injury develops.”

League leaders Barcelona are scheduled to face second-placed Atletico, Rodri’s former club, as they seek to maintain their position at the summit.

Spanish media reports suggest the midfielder could be sidelined for up to four weeks, potentially ruling him out of Spain’s Nations League fixtures against the Czech Republic and England.

Spain, the reigning World Cup champions, have already secured qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals.
