Rangers set to Complete three Foreign Signings

In preparation for their CAF Champions League campaign, Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers aim to flex three foreign players into their ranks.

According to Nobert Okolie, the club’s media officer, the players from Mali and the Ivory Coast, two West African nations, are scheduled to arrive in Enugu on Tuesday in order to finalise their transfers.

“It is true that we have signed some players from the NPFL, but we are not limiting our recruitment drive to Nigeria because plans are underway to sign some players from other African countries. In fact, three of them from Ivory Coast and Mali are expected to arrive in Enugu today to finalise their transfers,” Okolie said on Tuesday.

The Flying Antelopes are akin to the early morning bird that catches the worm by being earliest in the transfer market and have pulled off a string of signings, including Bendel Insurance left-back Evans Ogbonda, who joined on a one-year contract, and Bayelsa United midfielder Ekeson Okorie.

Others are Nwobodo Somtochukwu, a midfielder from FC Cincinnati II; Garando Tekena, also a midfielder from Bayelsa United; and Anayor Ogbonna, a forward from Gombe United.

Rangers will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League and will also defend their NPFL title next season, assignments, which require astute planning and preparation being assiduously put in place by the Amobi Ezeaku-led management.
