Ramaphosa Condemns U.S. Action in Venezuela, Backs Maduro

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has strongly condemned what he described as the United States’ invasion of Venezuela and the removal of its President, Nicolás Maduro.

In a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Ramaphosa expressed unwavering solidarity with the Venezuelan people, denouncing the actions of the United States as a violation of international law.

“We utterly reject the actions undertaken by the United States and stand firmly with the people of Venezuela,” Ramaphosa said.

He emphasized that South Africa’s position is guided by its commitment to international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

According to him, the U.S. action undermines the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Venezuela, a recognized member of the United Nations.

Ramaphosa further called on the United Nations Security Council to take decisive steps in fulfilling its mandate to preserve global peace and security, warning that failure to act could set a dangerous precedent.

The United Nations has also reportedly condemned the U.S. attack on Venezuela, describing it as a troubling development with far-reaching implications for international relations.
