PDP Crisis Worsens As Wike Pulls Out Of Party’s Reconciliation Deal, Blames Makinde

The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified as Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, announced his withdrawal from all reconciliation agreements previously established within the party.

Wike attributes the ongoing discord to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of breaching mutual agreements and undermining efforts to restore unity.

In a statement released on Sunday, Wike criticized Makinde for failing to adhere to resolutions aimed at resolving the PDP’s internal conflicts. He also accused other party leaders, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, of betrayal and dishonesty.

Wike emphasized that the root of the PDP’s turmoil lies in the aftermath of the 2023 general elections and pledged to continue his fight for justice within the party.

This development underscores the deepening divisions within the PDP, particularly among its top leadership. The party’s internal strife has been further exacerbated by individual ambitions, with reports indicating that the aspirations of key figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Bala Mohammed, and Seyi Makinde for the 2027 presidential election are contributing to the ongoing crisis.

As the PDP grapples with these challenges, the effectiveness of its reconciliation efforts remains uncertain. The party’s ability to address internal disputes and unify its members will be crucial in determining its future trajectory and electoral prospects.
