Nigerian actress Nkechi Blessing and BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna are taking their public feud from social media to the boxing ring.
The entertainers will face off in a four-round celebrity bout at Chaos in the Ring, scheduled for Thursday, October 1, at The Balmoral, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.
The fight, which comes with a rematch clause, will mark the first female celebrity bout on the boxing event’s card.
Their rivalry reportedly began after Blessing publicly confronted Phyna on Instagram over a movie role, leading to further exchanges between the two entertainers.
At Tuesday’s face-off, the tension spilled into a heated war of words, with both women predicting a decisive victory.
Blessing said she was fully prepared and would not need much time to take control of the fight.
“I am 100 per cent prepared for the fight. I will beat her with my first blow and she won’t stand a chance after that,” she said.
Phyna responded by taking a jab at Blessing’s age and predicting a second-round finish.
“She is an old woman, and I will continue to disgrace her. I will beat her in round 2,” Phyna said.
The reality star also disclosed that she intends to pursue boxing professionally after the celebrity bout.
The event will feature other celebrity matchups, including a clash between content creator Carter Efe and rapper Speed Darlington.
Chaos in the Ring founder and Balmoral Group Promotions chief, Dr Ezekiel Adamu, said the event is the promotion’s fifth show in the past year.
“This is our 5th event in the past year, themed the Independence Edition. It’s a real boxing match; expect a war in the ring,” Adamu said.
The professional card will also see Warri-born boxer Godday Appah defend his WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship against Ghanaian fighter Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah.
At Tuesday’s face-off, Freezy Macbones predicted victory over Appah, while the Nigerian boxer said he was determined to defend his title and represent Nigeria.
Other bouts on the professional card include Basit “Jokerboy” Adebayo vs Fatiu Jomoni, Eworitse “Ezra” Arenyeka vs Lekan “The Engine” Muibi, Yusuf “Swaggu” Adeniji vs Tagoe, and Israel Makinde vs Abiodun Muyideen.
SuperSport and DAZN are expected to broadcast the event across Africa and internationally.
