Three people have reportedly died and several others sustained injuries following a stampede at the Niger State Government House in Minna.
The incident occurred on Wednesday as youths gathered at the government premises, reportedly to show support for the state administration and oppose a planned protest.
The gathering reportedly became chaotic during the distribution of cash to those present, with sources saying some participants had been drawn to the venue by the prospect of receiving ₦10,000.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed grief over the deaths, describing the incident as a troubling reminder of the economic pressures confronting many Nigerian households.
In a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communications of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku called for a full account of how the gathering was organised and managed, including how information about the cash distribution reached those who converged on the Government House.
He also urged the Niger State Government to support the families of those who died and ensure that those injured receive adequate medical attention.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over crowd management and safety during government-organised gatherings, particularly where cash or other forms of assistance are distributed to large groups.
