NISO Hosts Presidential Adviser on Power, Reaffirms Commitment to Grid Stability

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening grid reliability and operational excellence following a high-level visit by the Special Adviser to the President on Power, Mr. Lanre Babalola.

Mr. Babalola, accompanied by his delegation, paid a working visit to the NISO Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, May 29, 2026, where he was received by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NISO, Engr. Abdu Bello Mohammed, and members of the management team.

The visit served as a platform for strategic discussions on the operation of the national grid, ongoing reforms in the power sector, and the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting NISO in the discharge of its mandate.

Discussions centred on measures to enhance grid reliability, improve operational efficiency, promote transparency, and strengthen overall system stability within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Speaking during the engagement, Mr. Babalola underscored the need for prudent resource management, improved operational discipline, and sustained efforts to boost grid performance while reducing system disturbances.

He noted that NISO occupies a pivotal position in the drive to build a more stable, resilient, and efficient electricity sector.

Responding, Engr. Mohammed expressed appreciation for the visit and reiterated NISO’s dedication to advancing reforms aimed at ensuring a reliable and sustainable power supply.

He assured the Presidential Adviser of the organisation’s readiness to work closely with all stakeholders in achieving the Federal Government’s objectives for the power sector.

The meeting reflects ongoing collaboration between NISO and the Federal Government to strengthen the national grid and improve electricity delivery across the country.
