The Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) has announced new guidelines for political advertising ahead of the 2027 general elections, requiring candidates and political parties to obtain permits before displaying campaign materials across the state.
Speaking in Awka, the agency’s Assistant General Manager, Chika Ngobili, said the measure is aimed at regulating outdoor political campaigns, protecting public infrastructure, and ensuring orderly use of advertising spaces.
Under the guidelines, presidential candidates will pay a permit fee of N50 million, while senatorial and House of Representatives candidates will each pay N5 million. Candidates seeking seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly will pay N1.5 million.
The permits will cover the use of campaign materials and activities such as billboards, posters, banners, branded vehicles, public address systems, campaign booths, rallies, flyers, T-shirts, caps and other promotional items.
ANSAA also stated that all campaign materials must receive approval from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) before being displayed.
The agency warned that its enforcement teams will monitor compliance throughout the campaign period, adding that individuals, groups or organisations that violate the regulations will face sanctions in line with existing state laws.
The new policy will apply to all political parties and candidates participating in the 2027 elections, including those contesting presidential, National Assembly and state legislative seats.
