In a move aimed at boosting operational efficiency and service delivery, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has announced the redeployment of 56 management staff across various departments and zones.
The development, described as a strategic restructuring to realign the agency’s workforce with its core mandate, was disclosed in a statement signed by Osagie Edward, NIMASA’s Head of Public Relations, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the Director General of NIMASA, Dayo Mobereola, said the redeployment was designed to enhance inter-departmental collaboration, strengthen leadership capacity, and inject new energy into the agency’s operations for improved service delivery within the maritime sector.
“This exercise is part of our deliberate efforts to optimise performance, foster synergy among departments, and drive sustainable maritime development,”
Dr. Mobereola stated. “We expect the redeployed officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear and contribute effectively to the agency’s strategic objectives.”
Under the new organisational structure, several key management positions have been reassigned:
Hajia Moji Jimoh – Director, Administration and Human Resources
Aishatu Jidda – Director, Planning, Research and Data Management Services
Barr. Heaky Dimowo – Director, Legal Services/Board Secretary
Isichei Osamgbi – Director, SERVICOM
Mrs. Olubusola Obasanjo-Akande – Director, Western Zone
Engr. Christopher Amakulo – Director, Special Duties
Ms. Gloria Anyasodo – Director, Cabotage Services
Salihu Abdullahi Yelwa – Director, Shipping Development
Mrs. Nneka Obianyor – Director, Reforms Coordination and Blue Economy
Umar Ibrahim Sidi – Director, Maritime Labour Services
Dr. Oma Ofodile – Director, Marine Environment Management
Mr. Buba Umar – Director, Abuja Zonal Office
Ahmed Shittien – Special Adviser, Technical to the Director General
Dr. Mobereola noted that the redeployment underscores NIMASA’s renewed commitment to institutional reform, performance optimisation, and alignment with global maritime best practices.
He added that the shake-up reflects the agency’s broader agenda to consolidate gains in maritime safety, blue economy growth, and human capital development.
“This restructuring is not just about movement of personnel; it’s about repositioning NIMASA for greater impact in fulfilling its mandate of promoting safe, secure, and sustainable maritime operations in Nigeria,” the DG added.
NIMASA, Nigeria’s apex maritime regulatory and promotional agency, has in recent months embarked on a series of organisational reforms aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.
The latest redeployment, insiders say, is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that key positions are occupied by individuals whose expertise aligns with the agency’s evolving strategic priorities.
