Nico Williams Open to Pay Cut as Barcelona Step Up Transfer Push

Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams is reportedly willing to reduce his salary demands in order to facilitate a move to Barcelona during this summer’s transfer window.

According to football transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Barcelona sporting director Deco has already met with Williams’ agent in an effort to push through the deal. During the meeting, Deco reaffirmed the club’s willingness to honor the €12 million gross salary that had been previously discussed with the Spanish international a year ago.

However, Barcelona are not the only club interested in the 22-year-old talent. European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also in the race to secure his signature.

Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao have initiated fresh contract negotiations with Williams in hopes of keeping their star player beyond the summer. Williams, who joined Bilbao from their affiliate club Basconia five years ago, has consistently impressed in LaLiga with his performances.
