Mohammed Babangida Denies Rejecting Bank of Agriculture Appointment

Mohammed Babangida, son of former Nigerian military president Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has refuted claims that he declined his recent appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture.
The federal government announced Babangida’s appointment last week, along with seven others. However, on Monday, a letter allegedly attributed to him began circulating on social media, suggesting he had turned down the role, citing personal and professional reasons.
In a swift response issued through the Ibrahim Babangida Media Office in Minna, Babangida dismissed the letter as fake and politically driven.
Speaking to the press, the Media Office’s spokesperson, Mahmud Abdullahi, said Babangida immediately denied any association with the letter upon being notified.
“It is a concocted letter from disgruntled elements. I am ready to serve as the chairman of the Bank of Agriculture,” Babangida reportedly said.
Abdullahi added that the letter contained several red flags, including a forged signature and an incorrect phone number on the letterhead.
“There is no truth in that letter. The members of the public should disregard it,” he emphasized.
