Media Personality Scott Iguma Remanded Over Allegations Against Real Estate Firm PWAN
Lagos High Court orders detention of influencer following defamation claims linked to ongoing fraud allegations

Popular Nigerian media personality and influencer, Scott Iguma, has been remanded in prison custody by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikoyi.
The court ruling, delivered on Thursday afternoon, comes just a day after Iguma was arrested and detained at Panti Police Station, following his public allegations against a real estate firm, PWAN Group.
Iguma, in a series of posts earlier this week, accused PWAN of defrauding numerous customers by selling them receipts in place of land and claimed to have submitted 130 petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on behalf of aggrieved clients. According to him, another 30 victims are yet to file formal complaints.
“I was at the EFCC again yesterday to submit another 25 petitions,” Iguma wrote on Instagram. “More victims keep reaching out to me with their stories.”
On Thursday, Nigerian singer Kokopee, who was present at the court, posted a video revealing that Iguma has been remanded until Monday. In his emotional statement, Kokopee questioned the legality of Iguma’s detention.
“I’m here in Ikoyi. Sadly, Scott has been remanded till Monday. He’s been remanded for fighting for people. You have a problem with how he did it? Did he kill someone? Did he commit a crime? In Lagos, I thought they said defamation is not a crime?” he said.
Before his arrest, Iguma also accused the owner of PWAN of allegedly using top police officers to intimidate and silence customers who speak out.
As of press time, PWAN Group has not publicly responded to the allegations, nor have the authorities released detailed charges against Iguma.
The case has sparked widespread online debate, with many Nigerians questioning the handling of defamation cases, press freedom, and the use of state institutions in disputes involving corporate entities and private citizens.
Iguma is expected to reappear in court on Monday.
