In the early hours of Thursday, a significant deployment of police personnel, including officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, was seen at Ikeja Underbridge, Lagos, as protesters convened to mark June 12 Democracy Day.
The crowd, comprised of civil society groups and pro-democracy activists, gathered to voice their frustrations over Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions and escalating insecurity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Although the demonstration has yet to officially commence, security forces remain on heightened alert, preparing for any eventuality.
