Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has announced that her upcoming movie, The Four, will premiere in the United Kingdom on November 29 at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London.
Akindele made the announcement on Monday through her verified Instagram account, describing the screening as a landmark moment for Nollywood.
She said the event would be the first time a Nollywood film premieres at the prestigious cinema, highlighting the growing international presence of Nigerian productions.
In her announcement, the filmmaker wrote that her production outfit, Funke Akindele Network, and FilmOne Entertainment were bringing the movie to the London venue for the special screening.
The announcement follows Akindele’s recent partnership with Facebook, which is aimed at promoting Nollywood stories and extending the international reach of her productions.
Her post has attracted more than 20,000 likes, alongside congratulatory messages from colleagues and fans, including actress Mo Bimpe and content creator Enioluwa.
The Four is scheduled for its Nigerian cinema release on December 11. It is the latest project from Akindele, whose films have recorded major commercial success at the Nigerian box office.
