European Clubs Celebrate Super Eagles’ Playoff Final Berth

Three European clubs — Brentford, Sevilla, and Galatasaray — have congratulated the Super Eagles following their 4–1 victory over Gabon in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifying playoffs.

Nigeria cruised into Sunday’s final with goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and a brace from Victor Osimhen at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco.

Reacting after the match, Spanish club Sevilla — home to Nigerian duo Adams and Ejuke — praised the pair’s contributions.
“A 2nd Super Eagles goal for Akor Adams. Akor scoring in a 4-1 win. Run it back… First goal [for Ejuke]. We mount,” the club posted on X.

Galatasaray, who have Osimhen on their books, also celebrated the striker’s brace.
“We congratulate Victor Osimhen and his country Nigeria for defeating Gabon 4-1 in the 2026 World Cup African Qualifiers and advancing to the African Play-Off final. Congratulations, @victorosimhen9,” the Turkish giants wrote.

Premier League side Brentford commended their Nigerian players — Benjamin Fredrick and Frank Onyeka — for their roles in the triumph.
“One step closer to the World Cup. Benji and Frank in a 4-1 Play-Off win over Gabon this evening,” the club posted.

The Super Eagles will now face DR Congo on Sunday in Rabat, with a World Cup ticket just one win away.
