Don Jazzy Says Signing With Mavin Records Does Not Guarantee Global Stardom

Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy has said that signing an artiste to his record label does not guarantee international fame or commercial success.

The music executive, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, made the remark during a recent livestream with popular forex trader Habby Forex, where he discussed the risks involved in the music business.

According to Don Jazzy, not every artiste signed to his label will become a global star or generate substantial revenue for the company.

He compared the uncertainty in the music industry with the risks associated with forex trading, noting that although music may not be as volatile as the foreign exchange market, it still involves considerable uncertainty.

“The forex market is just something I do for fun. Music still takes most of my time, and my other businesses are not as volatile and risky as the forex market. But not every artist I signed will become global,” he said.

The producer added that an artiste’s progress should also count as a measure of success, even if the person does not attain international recognition.

“But to us, as long as you are better today than yesterday as an artist, you are a success,” he stated.

Don Jazzy has been involved in the careers of several Nigerian musicians who have achieved significant recognition, including D’Banj, Tiwa Savage, Rema and Ayra Starr.

His comments highlight the uncertainty record labels face when investing in artistes, as commercial returns and global recognition are not guaranteed outcomes of a record deal.
