President Bola Tinubu is set to present the 2027 Federal Budget proposal to the National Assembly before the end of this year.
The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed the timeline while briefing State House correspondents following the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment to maintaining a predictable January-to-December budget cycle, she confirmed that inter-ministerial preparations are already at an advanced stage to ensure timely submission for legislative review.
“We are working on the budget for 2027, and the intention is to present it before the end of the year”, Uzoka-Anite stated.
The announcement aligns with a critical Personnel Costs Budget Call Circular issued by the Budget Office of the Federation. Signed by Director-General Tanimu Yakubu, the directive mandates all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit their 2027 personnel proposals alongside their foundational establishment Acts.
The stringent verification measure follows recent investigative disclosures by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which uncovered fictitious government entities draining public funds.
To enforce fiscal discipline, the federal government has explicitly barred any agency not fully integrated into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) or the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) from receiving personnel cost allocations in the 2027 fiscal year.
