Caroline Hutchings Draws the Line on RHOL: ‘The Show Is Over for Me’

Actress and filmmaker Caroline Hutchings has announced her exit from The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOL), saying she is ready to move beyond the reality show and focus on her career, personal interests and family.

Hutchings made the announcement in a lengthy statement shared on Instagram, where she declared that her journey on the show had come to an end.

“The show is over for me. I have moved on,” she wrote.

The actress said her priority now is to live her life on her own terms, pursue her interests and build a lasting legacy for her children.

Hutchings also used the statement to highlight her career outside reality television. She said she has spent more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, appearing in over 60 films and producing and shooting three award-winning productions in Nigeria and internationally.

She further distanced herself from the personal disputes and controversies involving other cast members on RHOL.

According to Hutchings, she had consistently made it clear during her time on the programme that she was not interested in forming cliques or friendships as part of the show.

“I made it clear repeatedly on the show… that I do not do cliques or friendships on RHOL,” she said, explaining that she prefers to address issues directly with the people involved.

The actress also expressed frustration over what she described as the reduction of her career and accomplishments to her participation in a 13-episode reality programme.

She said she found it upsetting that years of work in the entertainment industry could be overshadowed by her role on RHOL.

“It is 2026. Let it stop,” she said.

Despite her decision to step away, Hutchings acknowledged the experience positively, thanking the production team, Showmax and African Magic for the opportunity, particularly her participation in the show’s third season.

She, however, did not completely rule out a future appearance on the programme.

Hutchings said that should she ever decide to return for another season, it would be based solely on her own decision.

Her announcement marks a clear attempt to draw a distinction between her identity as an established actress and filmmaker and her more recent visibility as a reality television personality.
