Benfica Coach Lage Hails Chelsea Duo Neto and Fernandez Ahead of Club World Cup Clash

Benfica head coach Bruno Lage has showered praise on Chelsea stars Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez ahead of their FIFA Club World Cup last-16 encounter set for Saturday night.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Lage described Neto as a “dangerous footballer” and hailed Fernandez as one of the best midfielders in the game.

“There were actually rumours before Enzo [Fernandez] joined Chelsea that he was going to join me at Wolves,” Lage revealed.

He continued, “In terms of money, Chelsea have one of the best midfielders in the world [in the person of Fernandez].”

However, Lage reserved special recognition for Pedro Neto, stating, “The [Chelsea] player that I really know is Pedro Neto. He is so dangerous because he can go either way [left or right] on the ball.”

Enzo Fernandez signed for Chelsea from Benfica two years ago following a standout performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Argentina. Pedro Neto, meanwhile, arrived at Stamford Bridge from Wolves last year.
