New Real Madrid signing Trent Alexander-Arnold has downplayed his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or following his move to the Spanish giants.
Speaking during his official unveiling on Thursday, the England international admitted that the level of talent at Real Madrid makes it difficult for individual accolades.
“It will be very hard to win the Ballon d’Or with the players on this team,” he said with a laugh. “I’m just happy I’ll be playing with them and not against them.”
Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid from Premier League champions Liverpool after opting not to renew his contract. He will wear the number 12 jersey, famously worn by former Madrid star Marcelo.
The 26-year-old defender has also been named in manager Xabi Alonso’s squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
