The Akwa Ibom State Government has officially adopted the Treasury Single Account (TSA) system as part of renewed efforts to curb financial irregularities and promote transparency across government institutions.
The resolution was reached during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Executive Chamber of Government House, Uyo, and presided over by Governor Umo Eno.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Elder Aniekan Umanah, said the decision followed a formal presentation by the Ministry of Finance on the harmonisation of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and the TSA framework.
“In response to the Ministry of Finance’s presentation, the Council approved the full implementation of the TSA to enhance revenue efficiency, eliminate leakages, and ensure transparency in public finance,” Umanah stated.
He also announced that the TSA platform, branded “Akwaremit”, along with the state’s land management system “AkwaGIS,” will be officially launched on September 1, 2025.
