Nigerians are being given a direct platform to question former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on his political record, policy proposals and plans ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the launch of his Ask AA initiative.
Atiku says the platform received more than 1,000 questions within 30 minutes of its launch on Thursday evening.
In a post on X, shortly after the platform went live at 8:30 p.m. on October 15, the former vice president said the submissions came from Nigerians seeking answers on issues affecting the country.
During the launch broadcast, Atiku and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, discussed insecurity and the economy.
Amaechi linked insecurity to unemployment and limited economic opportunities, arguing that job creation and a functioning legitimate economy were essential to tackling crime.
He cited kidnapping, armed robbery and oil theft as examples of criminal activities associated with the economic challenges.
Atiku said Nigerians deserved answers about his political record, past decisions and vision for the country, inviting them to scrutinise his proposals on security, technology and employment.
The platform allows users to submit questions and ideas, search previously answered questions and select their preferred language from English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.
Atiku also promised to telephone selected participants who provide their contact details.
Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Phrank Shaibu, said the initiative was designed to bring Atiku closer to the electorate through a practical, problem-solving platform.
According to the campaign, Atiku will personally answer questions with support from his media team. Plans are also underway to introduce a radio interface for communities without internet access, although a launch date has not been announced.
Atiku contested the 2023 presidential election on the Peoples Democratic Party platform and is now associated with the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, the reported number of questions submitted to Ask AA has not been independently verified. The campaign has also not disclosed how many submissions have been answered, how questions are selected or what safeguards are in place to protect participants’ personal information.
