Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal have parted ways with French striker Karim Benzema after agreeing to end his contract by mutual consent.
The 38-year-old forward spent just six months with the club before his departure, despite having another year remaining on his contract.
“Al Hilal Club Company and French player, Karim Benzema have mutually agreed to terminate their contractual relationship, bringing his time with Al Hilal’s first team to an end,” a club statement read.
Benzema’s exit comes a day after Al Hilal completed the £51 million acquisition of Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
The club thanked the former Real Madrid captain for his contributions and praised his professionalism, commitment and leadership during his time in Saudi Arabia.
