Nigeria ‘dead’ before Tinubu took over — Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that Nigeria was practically “dead” before President Bola Tinubu assumed office.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at Saint James’ Anglican Church in Asokoro, Abuja, Wike said although the country still faces serious challenges, President Tinubu has taken bold and necessary steps to put Nigeria on the path to recovery.

He cautioned Christian faithful against making what he called another mistake in choosing Nigeria’s next president in 2027, emphasizing that the Church nearly made a critical error in 2023 by allowing sentiments to influence their decision.

Wike also took a swipe at the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, accusing him of contradicting the democratic principles he claims to uphold.

While acknowledging that more work remains, the minister urged Christians to remain patient and continue praying for the success of the Tinubu administration.
