
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has announced a work-free day on Tuesday in honor of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. The declaration was made through a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs.
In his address, Governor Buni called on workers and residents across Yobe State to dedicate the day to prayers for the eternal rest of the former leader’s soul. He also encouraged Imams to lead congregational prayers in mosques nationwide, seeking blessings for the departed and the country as a whole.
Highlighting the late President’s pivotal role in restoring security in Yobe and the wider North East region, Governor Buni noted, “His contributions to peace and stability are immeasurable and warrant this special tribute from the people of our state.”
In a heartfelt condolence message, the governor described Buhari as a great patriot committed to Nigeria’s unity and progress. He lauded the former president’s discipline, integrity, and unwavering passion for national development.
Governor Buni prayed that Allah grants forgiveness for any of Buhari’s shortcomings and that his soul be granted eternal peace in Jannatul Firdausi.
Extending condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Buhari family, the Katsina State government, the Daura Emirate, and all Nigerians, Governor Buni acknowledged the profound loss felt across the nation.
In a mark of respect, the Yobe State Executive Council held a special prayer session for the late president on Monday, replacing their regular weekly meeting.
