Wizkid Surpasses 12 Billion Spotify Streams, Sets New African Record
Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid has crossed 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, marking another milestone in his international music career.
The achievement was announced on Monday by WizStatz, a music statistics account on X, which described the singer as the first African artiste to reach the figure.
“WIZKID (@wizkidayo) becomes the first African Artist to surpass 12 Billion Streams On Spotify Across All Credits,” the account posted.
The total includes streams from songs released under Wizkid’s name, as well as collaborations and guest appearances on tracks by other artistes.
Five months after crossing 11 billion streams
The latest milestone follows another major streaming achievement in May 2026, when Wizkid reportedly became the first African artiste to surpass 11 billion Spotify streams across all credits.
His latest feat represents a further billion streams added to that cumulative total in approximately five months.
The figure reflects the combined performance of his music across different releases and collaborations rather than streams from a single song or album.
Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, remains one of Nigeria’s most internationally recognised Afrobeats artistes, with a catalogue spanning solo projects and collaborations with musicians from different parts of the world.
The new milestone further highlights the growing global reach of African music on streaming platforms.
