Super Falcons Yet to Receive Tinubu’s $100,000 Pledge — Captain Rasheedat Ajibade Reveals

Captain of Nigeria’s women’s national football team, Rasheedat Ajibade, has disclosed that the Super Falcons are yet to receive the $100,000 cash reward promised by President Bola Tinubu following their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
President Tinubu had pledged the monetary reward during an official reception held in honour of the team, in recognition of their historic achievement. Alongside the cash gift, the players and coaching staff were also promised houses and national honours.
However, in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade stated that none of the promised incentives have been fulfilled.
“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid,” the Super Falcons skipper said. “They have not paid. All the promises — we have not received anything.”
Just a week after the Super Falcons’ reception, Tinubu announced similar incentives for the national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, sparking renewed scrutiny over the delay in fulfilling commitments made to the footballers.
