Preparations for the 2027 general election will gather momentum on Thursday as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) inaugurates its logistics committee at its headquarters in Abuja.
The inauguration will be followed by an inaugural meeting between the commission’s leadership and members of the committee to discuss logistical arrangements for the forthcoming polls.
The committee comprises transport and maritime unions, the Nigeria Airport Authority, the Road Transport Owners Association, the police, the Air Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other paramilitary agencies.
INEC is expected to brief members on their responsibilities, with emphasis on coordinating transportation, logistics and the distribution of election materials to ensure smooth operations during the election.
The initiative forms part of the commission’s efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and ensure effective logistical planning for the 2027 general election.
