Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, signs for Saudi’s Al-Ittihad

Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has signed for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad Ladies on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City Women.

Plumptre joined Al-Ittihad following the expiration of her contract at Leicester City last season.

The 25-year-old was one of the best players at the Women’s World Cup, playing all games for the Super Falcons as Nigeria reached the round of 16.

Plumptre announced this alongside a video of her unveiling on Twitter.

She wrote: “Grateful to have signed for Al-Ittihad.

Commenting on her move to Al-Ittihad, Plumptre said she is excited to begin a new chapter in her football career.

Plumptre made 79 appearances for Leicester Women before her departure from the club at the end of last season.
