INEC To Begin PVC Distribution Ahead of 2027 Elections

As preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will begin distributing Permanent Voter Cards to eligible registered voters within the next three days.

INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, disclosed this during a strategic engagement with journalists in Abuja.

The exercise will cover newly registered voters, those who transferred their voting locations and registered voters who applied to replace damaged cards.

The commission said the distribution is aimed at ensuring eligible Nigerians receive their voter cards ahead of the elections and are able to participate in the electoral process.

INEC is also deploying technology to prevent stolen, lost or compromised voter cards from being used by unauthorised persons to manipulate the electoral process.

With political activities gathering momentum, Amupitan cautioned political parties and their supporters against disrupting campaigns, rallies and other activities organised by rival parties.

He urged political actors to abide by electoral rules and promote a peaceful environment as preparations for the 2027 polls continue.
