Rema’s Rave & Roses (Ultra) Hits 3 Billion Streams on Spotify, Sets African Record

The Nigerian star becomes the first African artist to cross the 3-billion stream mark on a single project.

Nigerian music sensation Rema has achieved a historic milestone as his debut deluxe album Rave & Roses (Ultra) surpasses three billion streams on Spotify, setting a new benchmark for African artists globally.

The achievement was announced on Monday night by Mavin Records, Rema’s record label, in a celebratory post on social media.

“Rave & Roses (Ultra) by Rema has now surpassed 3 Billion Streams on Spotify, becoming the first African project to achieve this milestone! Congratulations to the Rave Lordé,” the label wrote.

Originally released in March 2022, Rave & Roses marked Rema’s full-length debut under Jonzing World and Mavin Records. A year later, in April 2023, the artist dropped an expanded version titled Rave & Roses (Ultra), which included additional tracks that further amplified the album’s global reach.

The standout single from the project, Calm Down, played a significant role in its streaming success. The song topped charts in Belgium and the Netherlands, and reached number three on the UK Singles Chart, where it spent 27 non-consecutive weeks in the top ten — a rare feat for an African artist.

Rema’s latest achievement cements his status as one of the leading voices in Afrobeats and a global ambassador for African music. With billions of streams and chart-topping hits to his name, the 24-year-old continues to break barriers and redefine what’s possible for African talent on the world stage.
