Peter Obi Declares 2027 Presidential Ambition, To Serve Only One Term

Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has officially confirmed his bid for the 2027 Nigerian presidency.

Announced during an X Spaces session on Sunday evening, Obi pledged his intention to serve only one four-year term, aligning with his record of purposeful governance from his tenure as Anambra State governor 

Obi dismissed rumours of a joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, underscoring his independent candidacy .

He further clarified that any coalition discussions would focus on addressing insecurity, poverty, and education reform, rather than mere political alliances . 

He reaffirmed his commitment to zoning and power rotation in leadership, stating: “I believe in the rotation of government between North and South. I implemented it in Anambra as a governor” 

Additionally, Obi specified three core priorities for his first 100 days: enhancing security, bolstering education, and eradicating poverty .
