Osun Defeat Should Guide Apc’s 2027 Strategy — Bamidele

The outcome of the Osun governorship election should serve as a strategic lesson for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has said.

In a statement on Monday, Bamidele, congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election and urged the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to accept the result and work with the governor for the development of Osun State. He also called on Adeleke to unite the state and provide inclusive governance.

“Governance entails a collective approach that must not exclude any section of the state”, he said.

Bamidele said the APC should use the election results to reassess its mobilisation and campaign strategies, particularly across the South-West. He urged the party to move beyond rallies and engage more with traders, farmers, youths, women, artisans, labour unions, community leaders and other groups.

“Our engagement approach must be all-encompassing, and it must not leave any person or interest behind”, he said.

The Senate Leader commended INEC for the conduct of the election and urged all political actors to respect the verdict of voters. He said the APC’s defeat should not be viewed as political extinction but as an opportunity to prepare for the 2027 contest.
