A survivor of the Oriire school abduction has told the Federal High Court in Abuja that two teachers taken captive during the incident were later killed by their abductors.
The witness, identified only as AAA, testified in the ongoing trial of five alleged members of the Ansaru terror group, confirming the identities of the two teachers as Michael Oyedokun and John Olaleye.
AAA said Oyedokun was killed at Camp A, while Olaleye was killed at another location. However, she told the court that she was not present during the killings and could not identify those responsible.
Recounting the 56 days spent in captivity, the witness described harsh conditions, including irregular feeding despite the presence of children, some as young as 18 months.
She also told the court that the abductors used victims’ mobile phones to communicate with government officials, although she could not identify the officials or provide their numbers.
Following their rescue, AAA said she and other victims were questioned by operatives of the Department of State Services, both at the DSS office and while receiving medical treatment.
Under cross-examination, she confirmed that three of the five defendants were with the victims in the forest, while the identities of the other two were learnt during DSS interrogation after the rescue.
Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim adjourned the case until October 12 and 13 for continuation of the trial.
