The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced further progress in its recovery operations at the site of Tuesday’s train derailment, with engineers successfully retrieving a passenger coach in addition to the locomotive earlier recovered.
Managing Director of the NRC, Kayode Opeifa, who returned to the accident site on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, personally supervised the operation alongside the Corporation’s recovery engineers.
He commended the team for their professionalism, resilience, and swift response in handling the delicate task.
Opeifa also expressed gratitude to security agencies for ensuring a safe and orderly recovery process, and to the media for their continued partnership in sharing timely and credible information with the public.
He stressed the importance of accurate reporting in helping Nigerians understand the real situation and the progress being made on ground.
Reassuring passengers, Opeifa reiterated that every necessary measure is being taken to restore train services in the shortest possible time.
He emphasized that passenger safety and service reliability remain the Corporation’s top priorities.
