NNPP rejects alleged withdrawal of Oyo governorship candidates, petitions INEC

A fresh dispute has emerged within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) over its Oyo State governorship ticket, with the party accusing unnamed individuals of attempting to alter its candidates’ records through unauthorised documents.

The party insists that Adebiyi Adedapo and Muibat Folasade Durojaiye remain its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 elections.

In a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the NNPP questioned the authenticity of documents reportedly submitted to withdraw or replace the candidates.

The petition, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday, said its leadership, under Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, did not authorise any change to the existing nominations.

The party also denied approving the alleged use of forged signatures and affidavits, calling for an investigation into the documents.

It urged INEC to preserve its existing nomination records, reject unauthorised submissions and refer any evidence of forgery or fraud to law-enforcement agencies.

The NNPP maintained that Adedapo and Durojaiye remain its duly nominated candidates and called on the commission to safeguard the integrity of its nomination process.
