Nana Akua Addo Gets Custody of Daughters as Husband Is Remanded for Two Weeks

A Ghanaian court has remanded Harold Duodu Norman, husband of actress Nana Akua Addo, for two weeks as proceedings in a domestic abuse case involving the couple continue.
The court also granted Addo custody of their two daughters to safeguard their welfare while the case remains before the court, according to Ghanaian media reports.
The development follows allegations of physical, emotional and economic abuse made by Addo against her husband.
The case gained wider public attention earlier in October after reports that the actress had been hospitalised following an alleged assault.
Police had investigated abuse allegations
According to a statement from Ghana’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Addo petitioned the police over alleged abuse by her husband.
The police said Norman was arrested on August 27 to assist with investigations. He subsequently gave a statement and was granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29 while investigations continued.
His scheduled court appearance on October 7 was postponed after his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital. Police investigators reportedly visited the hospital to verify the claim and monitored his situation ahead of his appearance in court. <Cite refs={[“turn249916search5″,”turn249916search6”]}/>
The CID also said it was working with Ghana’s Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure that Addo and her children received appropriate social welfare support.
Case continues as children’s welfare remains a priority
The custody order places the actress in charge of the children’s care while the legal proceedings continue.
The case has drawn public attention to the allegations involving the couple and the steps taken by the authorities to address the matter.
The allegations against Norman remain subject to legal proceedings and should not be treated as a finding of guilt. The reported remand is a procedural development in the case, not a conviction.
