Mayorkun: I’ll do DNA test before accepting any child as mine

Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has said he intends to conduct a DNA test before accepting paternity of any child born to his future partner.
The singer made the disclosure during a recent episode of the In My Opinion podcast, where he spoke about his expectations around marriage and fatherhood.
Mayorkun said he had already informed his girlfriend that he wanted them to sign a prenuptial agreement before getting married.
He also told her that he would request a DNA test when she gives birth to a child.
According to the singer, his position did not sit well with his girlfriend, but he said he remained firm on his decision.
“I told my girlfriend we’d have to do a prenup and DNA test when she gives me a child, just to be sure. She got upset,” Mayorkun said.
He further disclosed that he had considered conducting the test without informing her.
“I have thought of doing the DNA test without telling her. If it is my child, no issues. If not, everybody will hear about it,” he added.
Mayorkun’s comments have added his voice to an ongoing public conversation in Nigeria about paternity testing, trust and the legal and financial responsibilities associated with parenthood.
The singer did not disclose when he plans to marry or provide further details about his relationship.
Mayorkun, who rose to prominence after joining Davido’s DMW record label, has established himself as one of Nigeria’s prominent Afrobeats singers, with songs including Eleko, Geng and Betty Butter among his notable releases.
