‘Let Me Say Goodbye in My Own Way’: Diewait Ikpechukwu’s Daughter Asks AGN to Remove Tribute

The daughter of late Nollywood actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, Chiamaka, has appealed to the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) to remove its social media tribute announcing her father’s death, saying she wants to be the one to share the news publicly.

Chiamaka made the appeal in an emotional video posted online, shortly after reports emerged that the veteran actor had died.

In the video, she asked the guild to take down its post and respect her wish to announce her father’s passing herself.

“Please take down the post. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.

She also questioned the industry’s show of affection for actors only after their deaths and asked people not to contact her over the loss.

“I’m still wearing my daddy’s shirt. Take that post down, please. Let me be the one to announce my papa’s death,” she said.

Diewait Ikpechukwu reportedly died on Thursday, November 6, 2026, at the age of 71, after an illness that has not been publicly disclosed.

His death was reported by several media outlets, while the AGN also published a tribute on its platform, prompting his daughter’s reaction.

She further expressed distress over the public attention surrounding the announcement, insisting that she did not want people calling her or sharing her father’s photograph at the time.

Chiamaka also questioned why members of the movie industry appeared to show affection and concern only after an actor had died.

Diewait Ikpechukwu, a veteran Nollywood actor, was reported to have died on Thursday, November 6, at the age of 71, following an undisclosed illness.

His death prompted tributes from members of the entertainment industry, including the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
