RB Leipzig have bolstered their attack with the signing of Brazilian forward Romulo Cardoso from Turkish side Göztepe, sealing a deal to fill the void left by Benjamin Sesko’s big-money move to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old has penned a contract running until 2030, with the transfer reportedly worth €25 million ($29.2m) including bonuses.
Romulo arrives on the back of an impressive season in Turkey, where he netted 13 goals and provided nine assists in 29 league appearances. His addition comes after Leipzig lost Sesko, 22, to United in a deal believed to be worth €85 million.
Last season, Leipzig slumped to seventh place, missing out on European football for the first time in their Bundesliga history.
The summer has brought major changes, with Jurgen Klopp overseeing a squad rebuild in his first off-season as Red Bull’s global head of football.
Alongside Romulo, Leipzig have added exciting young talents including winger Johan Bakayoko and midfielder Arthur Vermeeren, while handing the managerial reins to Ole Werner ahead of next weekend’s Bundesliga kickoff.
