Ex-Chelsea fullback Glen Johnson has advised the London club to appoint current Como manager Cesc Fabregas as their permanent managerial successor. Following the departure of Liam Rosenior last month, the Blues have been searching for a strategic leader to stabilize the dugout. Johnson contends that Fabregas’ storied legacy at Stamford Bridge would provide him with immediate dressing-room authority and a deep understanding of the club’s unique culture that other candidates might lack.
While comparing potential options, Johnson highlighted the blend of tactical potential and institutional knowledge that the Spaniard would bring to the role. He suggested that after a period of instability involving various coaching profiles, the familiarity of a former icon could be the catalyst Chelsea needs.
Sharing his insights with Metro, Johnson remarked:
“Chelsea have had both experienced managers who won everything, young, promising managers and sacked them. Both Andoni Iraola and Cesc Fabregas have credentials; having Premier League experience as a manager is huge, whereas Fabregas knows the club a lot better and, as a former player, would definitely get the players’ respect,” he said.
