JAMB Extends Deadline for 2021–2025 Outstanding Admissions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended to November 30, 2026, the deadline for candidates with outstanding admission offers from the 2021 to 2025 admission exercises to accept or reject the offers.

The Board said the extension followed the temporary unavailability of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for about 96 hours, giving affected candidates a final opportunity to update their admission records.

JAMB had earlier fixed September 30, 2026, as the deadline for candidates with outstanding admissions from the affected years.

In a statement signed by its Acting Director, Public Affairs and Protocols, Fabian Benjamin, the Board said the new November 30 deadline would be final.

It warned that candidates who failed to act by the deadline would no longer be permitted to accept or reject the outstanding offers within the current window.

According to the Board, any subsequent request to update an admission record relating to the 2021–2025 admission exercises would attract the applicable penalty fee, given that the offers had remained outstanding for several years.

JAMB said the intervention was particularly important for candidates whose admissions were not reflected on the matriculation list, noting that such candidates could encounter difficulties accessing benefits associated with properly documented admissions, including participation in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

The Board urged all affected candidates to take immediate action rather than wait until the expiration of the deadline.

It explained that candidates who accepted their offers would be able to proceed to print their admission letters, while those who rejected them would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted.”

JAMB said the process would enable it to update its records and ensure that the national admission database accurately reflected candidates’ current status.

The Board also clarified that candidates who were no longer studying at the institution where an earlier admission was offered, or who were pursuing a programme different from the one for which the previous admission was granted, could accept the outstanding admission and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion of the previous admission, where applicable.

Similarly, candidates currently pursuing a second degree but who still had an unaccepted admission offer from an earlier exercise could reject the outstanding offer and continue with their current programme.

JAMB further reassured candidates who had secured admission in the 2026 admission exercise but still had an outstanding offer from an earlier year that rejecting the previous offer would not affect their 2026 admission.

The Board said the extension would not only compensate for the period during which CAPS was unavailable but would also help maintain accurate, current and reliable national admission records.

JAMB reiterated that November 30, 2026, was the final deadline for accepting or rejecting outstanding admissions from the 2021 to 2025 exercises.

It added that at the expiration of the deadline, all outstanding offers from the affected years that had neither been accepted nor rejected would automatically revert to “Not Admitted” status on the Board’s records.

The Board also reminded candidates that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period could render the offer invalid.
